Artist Statement: John W. Yost is a photographer and filmmaker interested in the spaces around him and the stories they have to tell. His work not only explores the shape of his environment, but the character that it embodies. He constantly strives to create a truthful, emotional, and visceral experience for his audience. John believes art should be a truthful, passionate experience between artist and audience, regardless of the media.

Bio: John Webster Yost is a filmmaker and photographer in the Capital District of New York State. In addition to his cinema and photo work, John was the founder and President of door7, a non-profit experimental art gallery and co-op in Rochester, New York. He enjoys working on multiple projects and recently completed his first feature film, EVERY GOOD THING to RUST. His expansive photography portfolio includes images from trips to Ireland, Amsterdam, Greece, and Italy. Stanley Kubrick, Hunter S. Thompson, Gus Van Sant and Dave Eggers headline his list of inspirations. Mr. Yost lives a modest and happy life with his cat, Toonces, and his wife Raeanne, who cooks a damn good quesadilla.
